Frequently Asked Questions
Our Methods
What is Pilates?
Pilates is a low-impact form of exercise that focuses on improving strength, flexibility, posture, balance and mobility through controlled movement and mindful breathing. It helps you build a stronger, more balanced body while improving the way you move in everyday life. Our classes are based on the APPI (Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute) philosophy, which means every exercise is designed with safe, evidence-based movement principles in mind. This approach focuses on quality of movement over intensity, making Pilates accessible for people of all abilities while helping you move with greater confidence, control and strength.
What types of classes do you offer?
We specialise in Reformer on the Mat, Rebalance Pilates and Barre Control Pilates. Our classes are designed to build functional strength, mobility, balance and control, helping you move better both in and outside of the studio. Whether your goal is to improve your fitness, reduce aches and pains, build strength or simply enjoy moving your body, our classes provide a supportive and enjoyable environment to help you get there.
Are your classes suitable for beginners?
Absolutely! Our classes are suitable for all experience levels, from complete beginners to those with years of Pilates experience. Our classes are mixed ability, and throughout each session your instructor will offer options to make exercises easier or more challenging, so everyone can work at a level that feels right for them. If you're new to Pilates, simply let your instructor know before class. They'll be happy to offer extra guidance and support throughout the session so you can feel comfortable and confident from the very beginning.
What should I wear and bring with me?
Wear comfortable activewear that allows you to move freely. Fitted clothing is helpful for alignment checks, and grip socks are recommended for stability. Please bring a water bottle and an exercise mat (or a large towel if you don't have a mat). We occasionally have spare mats available, so get in touch if you need to borrow one. All other equipment and props are provided by Heather to ensure you have everything needed for a successful practice.
What should I expect from my first class?
Please aim to arrive 5–10 minutes before your first class so you have time to introduce yourself to Heather and get settled in. She'll explain how the class works, answer any questions you may have and make sure you're comfortable before getting started. Classes last 50 minutes and typically include:
A gentle warm-up
The main workout
A cool-down and stretch
Our goal is to create a welcoming, supportive atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable, regardless of experience.
Do you offer private sessions?
Yes. Heather has limited availability for one-to-one private Pilates sessions. If you're interested in private tuition, rehabilitation support or a more personalised programme, please get in touch via our Contact page and we'll be happy to discuss the available options.
Do you offer corporate or workplace sessions?
Yes! We offer Pilates sessions for businesses, workplaces and organisations, with both in-person and online options available. Whether you're looking to support employee wellbeing, run a regular class or organise a one-off wellness event, we'd love to help. Please get in touch via our Contact page to discuss your requirements.
Can I transfer my booking to someone else?
Bookings are intended for the named participant. If you're unable to attend and would like to transfer your booking, please contact us in advance and we'll do our best to help where possible.
What happens if you need to cancel a class?
On the rare occasion that we need to cancel a class, we'll let you know as soon as possible by email and/or SMS. You'll receive a credit for the class, which can be used towards another booking.
OUR POLICIES
What is your cancellation policy?
Bookings are generally non-refundable. If you cancel outside of the cancellation window, or do not attend your booked class, the session will be charged in full. Where possible, eligible cancellations may be transferred or credited. Please refer to our full Terms & Conditions for details.
Are there any health restrictions?
Please let your instructor know before class if you have any injuries, medical conditions (such as heart conditions or high blood pressure), or anything else that may affect your exercise. Our group classes are not suitable during pregnancy or until at least six weeks postpartum.
When can I book classes?
We aim to release classes up to one month in advance, although this may occasionally vary. Bookings close 12 hours before the class start time.
Is there a minimum or maximum class size?
To provide a personalised experience, classes are limited to 12 participants. If fewer than three people are booked onto a class, we may need to cancel it. If this happens, you'll be notified by email as soon as possible and your booking will be credited so you can choose another class.
What happens if a class is full?
If a class is fully booked, you can join the waitlist. If a space becomes available, you'll automatically be added to the class and notified by email and/or SMS, so please keep an eye on your messages.
What if I'm running late?
Please aim to arrive 5–10 minutes before your class starts. If you arrive within 10 minutes of the start time, you'll usually still be able to join, but please enter quietly to avoid disrupting the class. As the class follows a structured progression, your instructor won't be able to repeat any exercises that have already been covered.
